This article clarifies when and how you can cancel the purchase of an item won at auction. Private individuals have a 14-day right of cancellation under consumer protection law if the seller is Huutokaupat.com/Mezzoforte Oy, but business buyers do not. Cancellation requires contacting us and following instructions; in particular, for vehicle returns, the registration status and loss of value are considered. For transactions between users, cancellation requires the seller's consent.

General information about cancelling a purchase
If Huutokaupat.com/Mezzoforte Oy is the seller, the item has a right of cancellation under consumer protection law. See Sales Terms and Conditions for more details about the right of cancellation. The right of cancellation applies to purchases made by private individuals. Business purchases do not have a right of cancellation under consumer protection law.
If you have purchased an item as a private individual and wish to use the 14-day right of cancellation for distance selling under consumer protection law, you must properly notify us of the cancellation. Simply not paying for the item without notification is not a proper cancellation and may result in your user account being closed.
You must notify us of the cancellation within 14 days of receiving the item or from the time it was available for pickup, for example at a carrier’s pickup point. The buyer is responsible for the costs related to the return.
For vehicle returns, loss of value is taken into account.

For items between users (where the seller is someone other than Huutokaupat.com/Mezzoforte Oy), we cannot cancel the bid or the purchase without consulting the official seller of the item. In auctions between users, there is generally no right of cancellation. If you wish to cancel such a purchase, please first contact the official seller of the item.
Cancelling when the item is unpaid
The auction has ended, but you do not want to redeem the item you won:
- Check the item number of the item to be cancelled
- Do not pay for the item
- Log in to Huutokaupat.com with the credentials you used to place the bid and then contact us via the contact form: https://huutokaupat.com/oma-sivu/ota-yhteytta. Select "My issue concerns" as "Purchasing"
- Mention the item number in your message and that you wish to cancel the purchase
- We will check the item details and your right to cancel the purchase
- You will receive instructions on how to proceed and/or confirmation that the item has been cancelled
Cancelling when the item is paid
The auction has ended, you have already paid for the item, but you wish to withdraw from the purchase:
- Check the item number of the item to be cancelled
- Log in to Huutokaupat.com with the credentials you used to place the bid and then contact us via the contact form: https://huutokaupat.com/oma-sivu/ota-yhteytta. Select "My issue concerns" as "Purchasing"
- Mention the item number and that you wish to cancel the purchase
3.a) If you have picked up the item, mention this as well - We will check the item details and your right to cancel the purchase
- You will receive instructions on how to proceed
Are you cancelling a vehicle purchase?
The processing of the cancellation is affected by the registration status of the vehicle. The purchase cannot be cancelled until the vehicle registration has been returned to Huutokaupat.com.
Do not return the purchase before receiving instructions from Huutokaupat.com
You may be eager to return your purchase and feel unsure about what to do. Please wait patiently. Once the item has been handed over to you, we will provide you with instructions for returning the product.
Returns are processed by customer service on weekdays. You will receive instructions for cancellation and returning the item to your email.
