In Huutokaupat.com’s consumer auction, a private individual creates a listing, which is reviewed within 1–2 days. The auction lasts 3–7 days, after which the seller approves or rejects the offer. Payment is made to Mezzoforte Oy, and contact details are exchanged. The handover of the item is confirmed, and the proceeds, minus the sales commission, are paid to the seller within two business days.
This guide explains how the sales process proceeds when a private individual lists an item in Huutokaupat.com’s consumer auction.
1. Create a listing
- First, check our criteria: What can I list as a private individual?
- Then go to: https://huutokaupat.com/kuluttajahuutokaupat
- Create a listing for your item. Tip: You’ll get the best price if you follow the instructions on this page: The ABCs of a Good Listing.
- Preview your listing and submit it for publication.
- If the item is for sale elsewhere, remove at least the price information from those listings.
2. Listing review
- We will review your listing within 1–2 days of submission.
- You will receive an email notification about the publication or the possible reason for rejection.
- We reserve the right not to accept an item for sale if it is not suitable for auction.
3. The auction is open for 3–7 days
- After the auction ends, we will send you an email with the highest bid.
- The seller has 24 hours to accept or reject the offer on My Pages, in the My Listings section.
4. Payment and contact details
- When the seller accepts the highest bid, the buyer pays Mezzoforte Oy for the item.
- At the same time, the buyer and the seller receive each other's contact details to arrange the pickup.
5. Item handover
- Once payment has been made, the seller submits a handover notification to us.
- The buyer checks during pickup that the item matches the listing.
- The seller marks the item as handed over on My Pages in the My Listings section, once the item has been picked up.
6. Settlement
- When the buyer has confirmed the pickup and stated that everything is in order, we will send them the handover notification.
- We pay the seller the sales amount minus Huutokaupat.com’s sales commission.
- The funds are settled within two business days of pickup confirmation.
Please note that public holidays and weekends may affect the settlement date.
