International auctions

Participating in international auctions on Huutokaupat.com involves binding bids in Euros, with payment due within one business day. Buyers pay VAT upfront, refundable upon proof of export. Purchases are Ex Works, requiring buyers to handle transport and inspect goods before possession. Vehicles needing registration must not be exported early - registration documents must be collected in Finland, with processing taking up to a week. More details are available in the terms and conditions.

Participating in international auctions via Huutokaupat.com is straightforward, but there are specific rules regarding payments, taxes, and logistics that differ from local Finnish trades. Here is everything you need to know.

Bidding and winning

  • Binding offers: All bids placed are legally binding.

  • Limited selection: As an international buyer, you can bid on items listed on the dedicated International auctions page.

  • Currency: All transactions are conducted in Euros ().

Payment and VAT refund process

  • Payment Deadline: Full payment must be made within one (1) business day after your winning bid is accepted. Please follow the seller’s payment instructions carefully.

  • The VAT Procedure:

    1. The buyer pays the full price including VAT (Value Added Tax) upfront.

    2. The VAT is refunded only after the buyer provides valid evidence of export (e.g., a proof of lading, export declaration, or registration of a vehicle in another country).

    3. A completed export form must be submitted to receive the refund. You can find more information on the VAT refunds in this article.

Delivery and pickup (Ex Works)

  • Terms of delivery: All purchases are sold Ex Works (EXW). This means the seller makes the goods available at a designated location, and the buyer is responsible for all transport, loading, and export costs.

  • Mandatory inspection: Important: You must carefully inspect the goods before taking possession. If you take possession of the item, you waive your right to present any future claims against the seller regarding defects or inconsistencies.

  • Export requirement: Items must be exported without delay to the country where your business is registered.

Special instructions for registrable vehicles

If you are purchasing a vehicle subject to registration, please note:

  • Do not export early: Do not move the vehicle out of Finland until the handover process is officially completed as instructed.

  • Registration documents: Parts I and II of the registration certificate are not mailed. You (or an authorized representative) must pick them up from a Finnish vehicle inspection station. You can find more information on the registration process in this article.

  • Processing time: The registration process typically takes up to one week. You are responsible for any fees charged by the inspection station for the documents.
