Do you want to get the best possible price for your vehicle? Did you know that photos have a significant impact on buyer interest and the number of bidders? Good photos build trust, make your listing more attractive, and speed up sales. In this guide, we’ll go through how to take representative and eye-catching photos of your vehicle.
✅ 1. Start by Cleaning – Wash and Tidy the Vehicle
Before taking photos:
- Thoroughly wash the exterior of the vehicle
- Clean the interior and remove trash, shopping bags, and other unnecessary items
- A clean vehicle immediately gives a professional and trustworthy impression – the buyer can see from the photos if the vehicle has been well cared for!
✅ 2. Take Plenty of High-Quality Photos
Focus on both quality and quantity! We recommend at least 10 landscape photos, but preferably many more.
Remember these:
- Always shoot in landscape orientation (aspect ratio 4:3 works best)
- Use natural light: outdoors, in the shade, or on a partly cloudy day you’ll get the best photos
- Avoid dark indoor spaces and direct backlight
- Do not use photos taken by others or screenshots — the photos must always be taken by yourself.
- Accepted file formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, and HEIC
✅ 3. Carefully Photograph These Key Areas
The vehicle buyer wants to see all the essentials – make it easy by providing comprehensive photos!
- General photos - Comprehensive photos of the item inside and out
- Features - Webasto timer, navigator, parking camera, alloy wheels, etc.
- Damages - Both a close-up and a wider shot showing the location of the damage.
- Common damage areas - Bumper corners, sides, sills, lower door edges, and wheel arches – whether or not they have damage
- Dashboard and instrument cluster - Photo with the vehicle running (avoid unnecessary warning lights: close doors, release the handbrake, and fasten the seatbelt).
- Seats - Each one separately
- Service book - Photograph all pages containing service records. Cover any personal and contact information, for example with a note, before photographing.
- Inspection - defect list as a close-up.
- Tires - tread of both summer and winter tires.
- Keys - Photograph the keys so that the blade pattern cannot be copied.
For small items, general photos and pictures of any features or damages are sufficient.
✅ 4. Arrange the Photos in a Smart Order
- It’s a good idea to organize the listing photos logically – this way, the buyer can easily get an overview.
- You can move photos by dragging: press the photo and move it to your desired spot.
- A good order:
- Representative general photo of the vehicle (exterior)
- Other general photos of the exterior and interior
- Feature and detail photos
- Damage photos
- Service book pages and documents
✅ Good Photos = Faster Sales and a Better Price!
Remember: Well-taken and diverse photos make your listing more attractive and speed up the sale, as well as improve the price you get. Invest in photos – it pays off!
